A land of recent conflicts
Unfortunately the Northern Borders Province has been on the frontline of conflicts with the Iraqi wars of 1991 and 2003, and more recently with the battle against Daesh in Iraq. The border is still a very sensitive place with important military presence and large areas whose access is restricted.
Obviously this situation is not suitable for touristic activities so for now we simply advise not to go there for now and will advertise otherwise if the context would improve.
